Who We Are

About Us

Established on May 1, 1990, D.L.C.R.S. is a community-based agency providing out-of-home care and treatment where children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder or intellectual and related developmental disorders can lead dignified and enriching lives with opportunities for growth and friendship.

D.L.C.R.S. is staffed with service professionals with diverse educational backgrounds including Child & Youth Workers, Developmental Service Workers, Early Childhood Education Workers, Social Workers, and BAs in Child Care Psychology and Behavioural Sciences.

The staff at D.L.C.R.S are well-trained professionals who will evaluate the child/youth presenting needs and will work with them in becoming as self-sufficient and independent as each individual can.  In addition, we provide our children & youth with safety, guidance, individual choices, structure, and security.

On staff are Managers who oversee the development, implementation, and analysis of behavior management, life skills training, and communication programs.  Individual assessment, treatment management, and staff development are also the responsibility of the Managers.  The availability of 2 on-staff CPI instructors is invaluable to the success of our program.

Consultation is also available in the following areas:  Psychiatry, Speech, Neurological, Psychological and Behaviour Analysis, and Occupational Therapy.

D.L.C.R.S. recognizes that every child & youth is an individual; that all children & youth are creative; that all children & youth need to succeed.  D.L.C.R.S. respects the individual's needs, fosters a caring and creative environment, and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of each child & youth.  We offer a consistent approach when carrying out treatment plans.  These include behavior analysis, life skills training, communication, social interaction, and community integration.

Success is achieved through development-appropriate instruction and treatment plans that allow for individual differences and learning styles. Our out-of-home care promotes a safe, predictable, caring, and supportive environment where each individual’s self-esteem is fostered by positive relationships with peers and staff. We are confident that maintaining a consistent team approach with parents, family, teachers, and social workers will enhance learning and development for the children & youth in our care.
